The Accountant General's Department recently awarded Universiti Malaya (UM) the Standard Accounting for Government Agencies (SAGA) Compliance certificate for successfully complying with the Standard Accounting System for Government Agencies (SAGA) criteria. Puan Dalila Md Idris, Deputy Bursar represented the university to receive the recognition on 22 November 2021.
SAGA was introduced to ensure financial statements can be produced timely, accurate, up-to-date, integrity, comply with the relevant accounting standards, to enhance the accounting and financial management of Government Agencies. It was also aimed to ensure the security of the system, data and information are secured in terms of confidentiality, integrity, availability, complete and accessible at any time.
The certification will increase UM's credibility in terms of managing its finances and administration efficiently and in accordance with standard operating procedures, which will benefit the entire university community.
